Amanda Bossard graduated from high school in 1992 and began studying marine sciences at the Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. Bossard began her career in the industry of commercial seafood in the year 1999. That year she worked as a fisherman on Murat Aritan's halibut 65 feet boat, which was transformed into a fish tender. Bossard and Aritan are married now and are working together to stake their claim to their industry. Both are in the direction of preserving resources and optimizing the profits. Otolith is a direct wholesale seafood company, was established in the year 2007 by Bella Bossard (age three), Andre Bossard (1 year old) and Bossard's mother. Bossard had returned to Philadelphia following the birth of two children. The name Otolith is an affectionate reference to Bossard's extensive understanding of the biology of fish and her husband's many connections in the business of fishing. It is common for them to be apart for five months each time they pursue financial and environmental goals that reflect their commitment and independence wherever they live. Bossard along with Isabella as well as Andre (ages 10 and 12 respectively) are back each year, from July to August in Southeast Alaska for the summer catch of wild salmon.
